Welcome to our Little Farm in the City!
Our farm is located in Salt Lake City, Utah on 1/4 acre, which we rent. We raise chickens for eggs, meat, feathers, and fun. We also are just starting with raising French Angora rabbits for fiber and to sell the babies. We grow vegetables, fruit, herbs and flowers, as well as two young humans.
We chose the name 'Quirky Hollow' because we like odd, unusual, and unconventional things - so that's what we specialize in! Our chickens lay eggs that range in color from white, to tan, pink, blue, green, speckles, and all sorts of other oddities. To our knowledge, we will be the only breeders of French Angoras in the state of Utah. As for what we grow - the husband prefers to only grow heirloom and unusual varieties. We grow purple and yellow tomatoes. Black zucchini and watermelons. Yellow-flesh watermelons. Purple peppers. If its odd or unusual, he probably likes it!
We are also a bunch of fiber arts nuts. We process and spin fiber for yarn, and then knit and crochet when its done. Its a lot of fun. We're actually considering getting into making hand-made fiber processing equipment like hand combs, hackles, pickers, and spindles, so stay tuned for that!
